Barcelona City Hall awarded its Medal of Honour to the group Platform Les Corts Women’s Prison Future Monument in recognition for their work towards promoting the recovery of the historical memory of then neighbourhood and their commitment in favour of peace and social justice.

It also received a Special Mention from the jury of the Aurora Gómez Award to the Feminist Struggle in the Workplace, bestowed by the Foundation Cipriano García of the trade union CC. OO. (Workers’ Commissions).

Starting 8 March 2016, the totems / monoliths featuring in the temporary installation were wrapped with fabrics in emblematic colours to commemorate specific days.

Several important days were commemorated in this manner, such as the International Women’s Day or the 14th of April, during which, in 2016, the celebration took the form of a tribute to the former inmate of Les Corts, and fighter against Franco’s dictatorship, Maria Salvo Iborra.

The day began with a second edition of the ride on board Bus Memoria, with women involved in the recovery of the memory  Sant Martí and Nou Barris, and the neighbouring city of Sant Adrià de Besòs districts, joining in.

Upon arrival at Les Corts, there started a walking tour along the various signposts marking the perimeter of the former women’s prison. A speech from a representative of the civilian population was delivered in every highlighted area. The closing event was an homage to Maria Salvo, who was imprisoned in Les Corts from 1939 to 1941 and spent a total of 16 consecutive years in Francoist prisons.
